What I Learned About Pregnancy

Now that I'm 1 month postpartum, I thought I would do a little post on what I learned about pregnancy. This is obviously just in regards to my own pregnancy, as we all know, each pregnancy is different in their own way. These are just my thoughts and opinions!
17 weeks

1. Pregnancy waddle is real. It's crazy how much your hips want to be ahead of the rest of your body when you're standing, or walking. Plus it doesn't help that it feels like there's a head in-between your legs!
2. Cravings are also real. Kit Kat Chunky's, Creme Eggs, & Cherry Sours have never held such a special place in my heart.
18 weeks
3. It's really hard not to compare yourself to other fellow preggos.. but try your best not to and remember that this is your own personal, unique journey!
4. You may get the weirdest, most inconvenient pregnancy symptoms, such as carpal tunnel, jumpy legs or blurred vision... & you might have them all at once.
20 weeks
5. You may feel extra confident with your baby belly & take a million photos of it.
6. Climbing stairs and hills gets real challenging in the later months.
24 weeks
7. You may pee yourself a little while brushing your teeth/tongue due to sensitive gag reflex.
8. You may change up your wardrobe to sports bras and leggings once things stop fitting.
26 weeks
9. The first trimester is brutal. If you're one of the special ones who didn't get sick, consider yourself lucky. I was nauseas and threw up everyday for 14 weeks... but then it was like a light switch & I wanted to eat everything!
10. The first time you feel the baby move, is amazing... but the first time I saw my boyfriend feel the baby move, was so emotional.
29 weeks
11. You're really not as "big" as you think you are. I've been looking back through my belly photos, and I really wasn't as huge as I or anyone else thought I was!
12. The gender ultrasound is so fun! We knew we wanted to find out what we were having right away.. Having the ultrasound tech show us his "parts" was so emotional! All I could say was "it's a boy!!!" & then tears started falling. It was the first time I cried at an appointment.
34 weeks
13. You may think you're in the clear for stretch marks, but truth is, you probably just can't see them on that part of your body. You'll see the reality of it once the baby is out.
14. Emotions change on a dime.
38 weeks
15. It's not as hot as you think it is. Careful not to freeze your boyfriend by opening windows and turning off the heat in the car, during the winter months.
16. Pregnancy is really not that glamorous at times.... Consider it preparation for the also not so glam labour & birth.
38 weeks
 17. You will miss your belly after you give birth.
18. You never really get used to your belly sticking out so far. I grazed mine on doors, walls, and the fridge countless times.
40 weeks
19. Epsom salts & lavender bubble bath is a treat for the tired, aching body.
20. 9 [10] months of pregnancy doesn't prepare you for the overwhelming feeling of love when you see your baby for the first time.
40 weeks & 5 days

A Couple Photos

***Hi there!! Thanks for stopping by! This particular post has received more views thanks to Pinterest! I just wanted to let you know that if you click here you can view many other maternity photos! Thanks again for coming by my blog!***
It's come to a point where my belly is round when I'm sitting.. I thought it was so cute.. but I'm a little biased ;) I love my forever new body. Its always changing.. Well I guess I should say that my belly is always changing. My boobs had a growth spurt during the first trimester. Other then that, nothing else has really changed! My body is basically normal except for the basketball where my belly is! haha!
I love this photo and quote. I saw the quote on Pinterest before I was even pregnant, and knew I wanted to use it one day. Today was the day! I felt very relaxed all morning, as I finally got a full nights rest, so I thought I would take a couple pictures with my lap top. I didn't get all dolled up, hence having no face in the photos ;) Plus I think they look better with just my body in them anyway.
I think this will make a good cover photo on Facebook one day! I just changed it to my "its a boy" nails. I really like that photo. I think my nails turned out so cute. It takes a lot to do them these days because I need to lean over and get nice and close.... which causes breathing issues haha!
Look at how much my baby has grown in 9 weeks! His body to head ratio is getting closer to normal. I also am still loving the fact that I know it's a "he" for sure now! I can't believe I'm 5 months along. It's going by so quickly. I know I keep saying that, but its so true. This is why I have no shame in posting every second day about my baby or pregnancy. I know theres gotta be some people on my Facebook who are tired of it... and those people can just "hide" or "delete" me, because I am way too proud of my baby and what my body is doing to GROW A HUMAN! That's so cool.

Accurate!

Bump Update - 20 Weeks

How far along?
20 weeks! Im sure every expecting mom says this.. but OMG I can't believe I'm half way through this pregnancy... I've said from day 1 that it feels like it's going by soooo quick.

Total weight gain/measurements:
Not sure of the weight gain... That'll be in the 21 week update, as I have a prenatal on Monday. My belly also hasn't grown since last week.. Still sitting at 41.5 inches at the widest part. I feel like its changing shape though. I feel the baby up a bit higher in my belly now, as opposed to my pelvis/lower abdomen.

Maternity clothes:
No. Still just in my leggings.. Finally got the high waisted leggings from Asos. They are a dream! Although I'm starting to think I should have just gotten maternity leggings in the first place... but these will definitely do!

Stretch marks:
Nope!
Sleep:
Nope... lol I think I'm getting used to it now. The baby is usually up and moving around like crazy, so I just lay there with my hand on my belly until I fall asleep.

Best moment this week:
New leggings.. that pretty much it... and every single time the baby moves is one of the "best moments"

Miss anything?
Sleeping all night.

Movement:
All the time!! This is such an active baby and I'm loving every minute of it... Although I will admit that I have a fear, probably irrational, but a fear none the less, of the umbilical cord! I'm so worried its going to get all wrapped around the baby since "he" is so active!
Food cravings:
Fries again.. I craved them sooo much when I was about 11-14 weeks... It has come back with a strong force. Fries with ketchup.. mmmm. and chocolate!

Anything making you queasy or sick?
No

Gender:
We find out on Tuesday!

Labour signs:
No
Symptoms:
Headaches! Ive never had so many headaches before! It's awful.. I was making popcorn over the stove the other night and thought I was going to pass out from the pain in my head and neck. The dizziness has lessened, which is nice.

Belly button in or out?
In

Happy or moody most of the time:
Moody... The headaches and lack of sleep are starting to get to me. The fact that my car is on its last legs [by the sounds of it!] is adding a ton of stress too.

Looking forward to:
Tuesday, when we find out the gender! I'm so so so so so excited to find out. I'm dying to know if its a little boy or girl in there! I don't know how people can wait until birth to find out. All the power to ya if thats what you're into.. but I can't even seem to buy anything for the baby yet, because my ideas are very not gender neutral. Theres a lot of people saying that you're "ruining the surprise" by finding out.... but I'm sorry, I bet you a million dollars I'm still going to be surprised when I'm 20 weeks along as opposed to 40[ish] haha!
Mom and bebe were very excited to go shopping for discount Halloween candy today.
So crazy to think that next year for Halloween, we'll have a 7 month old baby to dress up!
